Scholarships to Write/Speak/Code

Documentarian Scholarship

Are you a natural observer? Do you already write regularly? Do you film or photograph?

We are looking for at least one woman to attend the conference and write about her experience for the world to learn from. This is similar to what Alli did in 2013. We are open to woman who document in other ways as well — film, photography, podcasts, etc.

Are you up for the challenge?

You do not need a formal background in writing/photographing/documenting. You just need excitement, enthusiasm, and some experience working with the medium (writing, film, photograph, podcasting) you choose to use.

To apply to this scholarship, you will need to write, film, photograph, or record an explanation of why you want to attend Write/Speak/Code as well as fill out the application form.

We ask that you create at least six posts for the Write/Speak/Code blog in return for the scholarship.

This scholarship covers the cost of a 3-day ticket only and is available to any software developer who identifies as a woman.

We will consider writing (or format) quality as well as potential for community impact when choosing recipients.

Github International Sponsorship

Congratulations to Axelle from Douala, Cameroon!!
This scholarship is now closed.

We define "software developer" as anyone who has written a line of code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, Python, Java, whatever) and can explain what it does. Designers, E-book publishers, and beginners as well as engineers with 20 years experience have enjoyed our workshops and been inspired by each other.

We wouldn't be here without the generous support of our sponsors.
